Once in a while two worlds collide; the one where I’m a oil and watercolor painter and the other a baker and cake designer.  This couple brought me one of the most simply beautiful wedding invitations ever.

They wanted to incorporate the painting somehow but wanted to keep it simple and elegant, thus we only focused the painting on the two shorter tiers.  The greenery scrollwork reaching onto the other tiers helps to tie the entire design together.Even though the original invite design is all 2D we added some 3D sugar flowers also painted in the same style as the invite.  The same design does continue around the back and all painting is done with edible airbrush color on our homemade marshmallow fondant.  (click image for an enlarged close-up)
